Upton House and Gardens

~ Join us as Upton launches the Banking for Victory property in April 2015! In 1939 the owners of Upton House moved out and their family-owned bank moved in. Driven by the need to protect bank staff and assets from the London air raids, M. Samuel & Co., moved in for the duration of the Second World War.

Our wonderful volunteer Tony has created a miniature copy of the painting "The Interior of the Church of St Catherine, Utrecht" by Peter Jansz Saenredam. Tony is very dedicated to his work at Upton, where he shares his love and extensive knowledge of art with us and our visitors. This painting will be leaving us soon, to be loaned to an exhibiton titled "Dutch Treasures" so we are thrilled we were able to photograph Tony's miniature next to the real painting first. #ntmidlands #nationaltrust #artatupton #miniaturepaintings #volunteer
