The launch of Banking for Victory! at the end of March, heralded in a whole new way of experiencing Upton House and Gardens for our visitors and volunteers.
We welcome you in, to discover and experience how the bank staff of M.Samuel & Co lived, worked and played here at Upton during WW2, by having a go on the typewriters in the typing pool, listening to the wireless and reading the paper in the Sitting Room or knitting a square for the Great Upton Blanket in the Make Do and Mend Room.
Find out how the family contributed to the war effort by seeing and watching footage and images of Lord and Lady Bearsted rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck in.
Follow the story of the Bearsted art collection, as they made their way from Upton to the safety of the Manod Quarries in Wales. Look for the tags, hung from some the paintings to find out which ones were moved. How many can you find?
We would love to hear about your visit to us, please let us know what you think! @UptonHouseNT
