Last week saw months of hard work come together for the launch of our new project, Banking for Victory! To celebrate, we had three launches during the day, and lots of guests.
Mary Berry came to open the project and started by sharing her wartime memories. She had scones baked in the AGA and cut the parachute silk ribbon in the Long Gallery now converted to the Banking Hall.
We then welcomed Helen Ghosh, Director General of the National Trust, as well as National Trust staff who had supported us during the project.
Our volunteers joined in the celebrations and dressed up in the spirit of the 1940s.
Finally, as Helen Ghosh celebrated the exhibition opening and the vision which we have turned into reality, we welcomed our donor family and supporters of Upton.
With the launch day done, it is now time to welcome visitors to Upton. We hope you enjoy our exhibition as much as we have enjoyed researching the new stories, dressing the rooms and planning for your visits.
