Even though we are only open at weekends in January, we have still been busy and working hard. With our ‘Banking for Victory!’ project launching at the end of March, we have so much to be getting on with.

Our Restaurant is having a refit and will have a fresh, new look. Having moved the servery, the whole place is looking very different. The Restaurant has been closed for two weekends now, so it has been a very different and cosy experience to enjoy snacks and cakes in the Old Kitchen.

The finished paintwork in the Restaurant

The Shop is also having a lick of paint and is being brought into line with the restaurant and the rest of the property. The paint colour chosen for the walls was influenced by the colour used in the Long Gallery. The shop fittings are also having a makeover. We will be sure to share with you the finished look. We have thought of all the finishing touches so that Upton really feels the same as it did in the 1940s.

Busy painting the shop

We haven’t forgotten the house either. We have had the window sills and shutters painted in the Long Gallery, Dining Room and an upstairs room. The Sitting Room and a new room upstairs have also been taken back to their original paint scheme. It takes a lot of research and time to achieve an authentic finish.

All in all, it has been a busy few weeks – the house has been full of painters! If you have visited in the last few weeks, we thank you for your patience. We hope to see you soon so that you can admire the new look across Upton!
